An event dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Bahruz Kangarli Museum in Nakhchivan was held on June 16, 2017.
Sabina Alincali called the event to order and said today the perpetuation of the memory of outstanding personalities has become a tradition in the Autonomous Republic. It was stated that Bahruz Kangarli Museum was established by the Order of the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic dated May 22, 2001. National leader Heydar Aliyev took part in the opening ceremony of the museum on June 18, 2002. Mr. Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Azerbaijan Republic, signed a Decree on holding 120th jubilee of Bahruz Kangarli in 2012. According to this decree, a lot of work has also been done in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, copies of Bahruz Kangarli's most works kept in the fund of the Azerbaijan National Art Museum have been given to the Bahruz Kangarli Museum, and for the first time the complete collection of the artist's works was released as an album catalog.
At the same time, postage stamp was published on the occasion of the jubilee, a documentary about prominent artist Bahruz Kangarli's life and activities was filmed and the building of the museum was reconstructed and put into use in 2013. After reconstruction, the museum has been serving the people of Nakhchivan and Bahruz Kangarli's lovers for many years. Now hundreds of exhibits of the realist artist's heritage are protected in the museum.
Ulviyya Hamzayeva, the chairwoman of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Artists' Union, Asim Yadigar, the chairman of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Writers' Union, Huseyn Hashimli, Doctor of Philology, and art critic Nizami Aliyev gave speech on "State concerns to Bahruz Kangarli's activities", "Bahruz Kangarli is the prominent artist of Azerbaijan", "Bahruz Kangarli's activities in literature", "The life and activities of Bahruz Kangarli" at the event.
They stated that the museum was in the historical building and this building was built before the Soviet era. At first, this building was Girls’ School, later it became Pedagogical Technical School and then Medical School. National leader Heydar Aliyev studied at this Pedagogical Technical School in 1938-1939 and graduated with excellent grades. Therefore a memorial plaque to the eternal memory of the great leader was put up, and his memorial room was set up. Here you can find archives documents, the lists showed his grades, photos belong to his school years.
It was noted that Bahruz Kangarli, who created works in theatre art, graphics and other genres, is a great artist who has a unique role in the development of national painting, has a new style and national spirit in the Azerbaijani art of painting, wide and diverse creativity. He laid the foundation for realism in Azerbaijani painting and enriched it with new social content and genre, new description method and means of expression. Bahruz Kangarli's works include rich lyrics, optimistic moods. This is the result of the artist's love for the homeland and the beauty of nature. Being committed to the traditions of realism in his creative work, the artist raised this genre to a new level of art by enriching it both in content and artistic form.
